Delamain 1995 Early Landed Cognac is a notable expression that embodies a traditional practice in the world of fine spirits. This cognac was distilled in 1995 and belongs to the esteemed Grande Champagne region.
A key aspect of this cognac is its "early landed" status. This term refers to a historical tradition where casks of young cognac were shipped from France to the UK for maturation. This practice, dating back centuries, was especially common with Cognac houses that had strong ties to the British market, like Delamain and Hine. The cooler, more humid cellars in Bristol, created a different ageing environment compared to the drier cellars in the Cognac region of France. This climate differential results in a unique spirit profile.
